Outdoor Donor Recognition: Showcasing Community Where They Gather

Established in 1918, Community First Solutions is a not-for-profit network that provides a broad continuum of quality services to meet the diverse health and wellness needs of more than 30,000 Butler County residents annually. In connection with a multi-phase capital campaign, Heurista was asked to be creative with the newly renovated outdoor space at The Landing at Berkeley Square, one of Community First’s residential campuses.

With an understanding that recognition should capture the attention of an audience and enhance the experience in each space, Community First tasked Heurista fwith providing a solution that was on point with the brand and supportive of the fun-loving, community-focused environment of the newly renovated facility. The Landing and other new amenities will provide new outdoor spaces and give residents and their families more opportunity to gather to enjoy games, sports, and other leisure activities in a communal setting.

“ The team at Heurista was the ideal partner for developing a donor recognition wall for our project.  We were looking for a creative, whimsical, meaningful piece that was consistent with a recreational  outdoor living space.  Dana and the team was engaged and responsive in their development of a donor wall that met all those needs in our timeframe and budget.  We at Community First Solutions will most definitely use Heurista for future projects” ~Katie Crank, Director of Development

To celebrate the donors who’ve supported this project, Heurista designed a donor recognition solution that is more than the traditional list of names and doesn’t use the ubiquitous bricks, benches or trees as a motif. This display uses the colors, shapes and fonts indicative of the Community First brand. Three clear panels are situated in the open exterior wall of the gathering space with translucent printed vinyl circles to recognize individual donors. The design allows natural light to come through and enhances color coming from the surrounding scenery.

“Fundraising in the aging services sector continues to grow in magnitude and reach,” says the consulting firm, Marts&Lundy in their 2023 report, Philanthropy in Aging Services. Dynamic organizations, like Community First, will stand apart in their stewardship practices by choosing creative outcomes for their donor recognition. Doing so will spark curiosity, build brand alliance, and drive interest in the project. Heurista is excited to have been a part of this project and looks forward to more work in residential settings.
